Underground natural gas pipeline
Fluxys, the independent operator of the natural gas transmission system in Belgium, contracted Cofely Fabricom to carry out various works at a compressor station and a gas metering stat ion along its new VTN2 natural gas transmission pipeline.
The new VTN2 natural gas pipeline is being laid between the Belgian municipalities of Raeren – close to the German border in the East – and Opwijk 160 km westward.
Piping, mechanical and electrical works Fluxys relied on us for civil engineering works, the construction of a technical building, welding operations, and mechanical works at the compressor station in the municipality of Bernaeau (Visé) and at the gas metering station in Raeren.
The VTN2 pipeline is a strategic link not only for the distribution of natural gas in Belgium, but also for cross-border gas transport passing through the Belgian territory. It will significantly bolster the security of supply of natural gas for both Belgium and the rest of Europe.
